Method:
  1. If you are using a store bought Paneer, take out from refrigerator and bring it to room temperature before starting with the recipe. If you are using homemade paneer, then squeeze out the paneer nicely to get rid of all of its moisture
  2. First lets prepare the sugar syrup. Take water and sugar in a sauce pan and stir well. Bring the sugar syrup to boil. Keep boiling the sugar syrup till the syrup is sticky. We don't need to check for string consistency. Switch off the flame and keep this syrup aside
  3. Crumble the paneer and knead it well for 3-4 minutes. Then add baking powder and maida and combine everything well
  4. Make small balls out of this Paneer mixture. Do not roll the ball too hard, we need some air inside balls so that it gets nicely fried inside too in the hot oil
  5. Heat oil/ghee in a heavy bottomed pan. Add 4-5 Jamun balls in a batch and deep fry in low flame till they are golden brown
  6. Take out the fried Jamuns and place it in paper towel for few seconds and add it to sugar syrup. If the sugar syrup is too cool, then warm the syrup before dropping the fried jamun
  7. After adding all fried Jamuns , cover the sauce pan with lid and let the Jamuns sit inside the sugar syrup for atleast 2 hours for the syrup to get incorporated with the Jamuns
  8. Serve the delicious Paneer Gulab Jamun warm or cold and enjoy the dessert!
