Ingredients:
Karamani (Black Eyed Peas/ Lobia) | 1/2 Cup* |
Onion | 2 finely Chopped |
Tomato | 3, pureed |
Ginger- Garlic Paste | 1 Tablespoon |
Coriander Powder | 1 Teaspoon |
Cumin Powder | 1 Teaspoon |
Red Chilli Powder | 1 Teaspoon |
Salt | To taste |
Boiled Potato | 1 |
Fresh Cream | 2 Tablespoon |
Chopped Coriander Leaves | For Garnishing |
* 1 Cup = 250ml
For Seasoning: Oil | 2 Tablespoon |
Cumin Seeds | 1 Teaspoon |

Method:
- Take Black eyed Peas in a vessel. Wash and add fresh water to soak the peas and then pressure cook it till the peas becomes soft. Set this Cooked peas aside
- Heat oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onions and saute them along with a pinch of salt. The salt brings out the moisture of the onions and allow the onions to cook faster.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and saute the onions till transparent. Add tomato puree and mix everything well
- To the tomato mixture, add coriander powder, cumin powder and red chili powder. Add salt necessary for the whole dish and mix everything well
- Cook the tomatoes till the oil starts to ooze out. Then, add the cooked Black Eyed Peas along with boiled and roughly mashed potato and mix well
- Add water to adjust the consistency of the masala. Allow the masala to cook for another 2 minutes
- Then, add fresh cream. Adding fresh cream is completely optional. But cream enhances the flavor. Stir the cream well so that it gets incorporated with the masala
- Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame. Transfer the masala to the serving dish
- The yummy Lobia Masala Ready! Serve with any Indian bread and enjoy the dish!
