Falafel is a deep-fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas, commonly served in a pita, which acts as a pocket. Falafel balls may also be eaten alone as a snack or served as part of assortment of appetizers. I first tasted last week in a Mediterranean Restaurants. The Falafel was served along with Pita pockets. It was so delicious and then one of my friend explained the ingredients and immediately decided to make it this week. This is such a delightful snack or appetizer.

Method:
  1. Wash and Soak the chick peas in water and set it aside for 12 hours or overnight. After 12 hours, drain the water and set it aside

  2. Take the drained chick peas in a mixer jar. Add onion, coriander leaves, red chili powder, pepper powder, cumin seeds, coriander powder, garlic clove

  3. Grind everything to a coarse paste. Do not add any water. If needed, grind the ingredients in batches so that the falafel mixture is coarse. Take the ground falafel mixture in a mixing bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour
  4. After 1 hour, take out the coarse falafel mixture. Add corn flour and mix well. Make small balls out of the falafel mixture

  5. Heat oil in a pan to deep fry the balls. Add 4-5 falafel balls and deep fry them till they are golden brown and crispy. Take out the falafel balls and keep it in tissue paper for draining excess oil

  6. Serve the crispy Falafel with ketchup or yogurt dip and enjoy this appetizer.
