Methi Dal Recipe | Methi Dal Fry Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 Bunch Methi Leaves
- 1 Cup Toor Dal (Pigeon pea) 1 Cup - 250ml
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- ½ tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 Tomato Roughly Chopped
- 1 inch Ginger Finely Chopped
- 3 Garlic cloves Chopped
For Tempering
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 2 Green Chili Slit
- 2 Red Chili
Instructions
Cooking Dal
- Take dal in a vessel. Add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder. Also add 2 cups of water.
- Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles and allow pressure to naturally release. Take out the cooked dal and mash the dal with back of ladle. Set this mashed dal aside
Cooking Methi Dal
- Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and allow it to crackle. Next, add green chili, red chili, ginger,garlic and give a good mix.
- Next, add chopped onion and saute the onions till translucent.
- Then, add the chopped tomato to the pan along with turmeric powder, red chili powder and give a good mix.
- Allow the tomato mixture to cook till tomato is mushy. Next, add the methi leaves to the pan. Stir-fry the methi leaves for 2-3 mins.
- Add the mashed dal to the pan. Adjust the consistency of dal by adding 1/2-1 cup of water.
- Add salt and give a good mix. Allow the dal to cook for 2 mins. Switch off the flame.
- Relish this Methi dal with hot rice or roti or Pulav and enjoy this delectable dal.
