Ingredients:
Onion | 1 Roughly Chopped |
Tomato | 1 Roughly Chopped |
Tamarind | 1 Lemon Size |
Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon |
Red chilli Powder | 1 Teaspoon |
Gram Flour / Besan | 2 Tablespoon |
Gingelly Oil | 2 tablespoon |
Mustard Seeds | 1 Teaspoon |
Fenugreek Seeds | 1/4 Teaspoon |
Curry Leaves | Few |

Method:
- Soak the tamarind in the water and extract the juice and keep it separately. Chop the onion & tomato roughly and set it aside.
- Heat the oil in the pan and add the mustard seeds once the oil gets heat. When the mustard seeds begins to sputter add fenugreek seeds and the curry leaves
- Add onion and saute the onions till it turns transparent. Then, add the tomato and saute them till the tomato is mushy.
- When the tomato is cooked add the extracted tamarind juice and add Red chilli powder and salt.
- Boil the tamarind extract for 10 minutes. Once the mixture started boiling and add besan mixture and stir well to avoid lumps. Add water to adjust the consistency. Boil for couple of minutes and switch off the flame.
- Quick (Avasara) sambar is ready to serve for Idly/Sambar.
