Grated Coconut | 1 Cup* |
Urad Dal | 1 Tablespoon |
Bengal Gram Dal | 1 Tablespoon |
Red Chilli | 2 |
Peppercorns | 1/2 teaspoon |
Asafoetida | a Pinch |
Tmarind | 1 cranberry Size |
Salt | To Taste |
Coconut Oil | 2 Teaspoon |
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan. Add urad dal, bengal gram dal, red chilli and peppercorns and fry till the dal turns light brown color
- Then, add grated coconut, tamarind and asafoetida and fry till the coconut turns light brown color
- Cool all the roasted ingredients and take it to a mixer jar along with salt. Grind everything to a coarse paste
- Now the Thengai Thuvayal is ready to serve with hot rice
