Aloo Jeera Recipe | Jeera Aloo Recipe | Potato with Cumin seeds Recipe

Aloo Jeera (Jeera Aloo) is one of the popular dry curry in most of the Indian Restaurants. A very simple and easy to make dish with one of the favorite veggie Potato. Steam cooked potatoes are tossed in spices and finally garnished with coriander leaves. I have used ginger and garlic which gives a nice flavor, but you can make this dish without garlic also. Serve these delicious Aloo Jeera (Jeera Aloo)  with Indian flat bread or any rice varieties of your choice. I personally like with peas pulao.

Ingredients:
Potato1/2 Kg
Green Chilli2 slit
Red Chilli Powder1 teaspoon
Coriander Powder1 teaspoon
SaltTo taste
Turmeric Powder1/2 teaspoon
Coriander Leaves1 tablespoon


For Seasoning:
Oil2 tablespoon
Cumin seeds1 tablespoon
Chopped Ginger1 teaspoon
Chopped Garlic1 teaspoon
Hinga pinch

Method:
  1. Wash and cut the potatoes in the middle a little. Just do a little incision and steam cook the potatoes till are soft. Peel the potatoes and make them into cubes and set it aside

  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds. Add chopped ginger and garlic and saute for few seconds. Garlic and ginger is optional not mandatory but the roasted garlic adds a nice flavor. 

  3. Then add slit green chillies and saute it for few seconds. Then, add red chili powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder and saute for few seconds

  4. Then add the cubed potatoes and toss them well so that they are nicely combined with the spices. Keep in low flame for 5 minutes and then switch off the flame

  5. Garnish with coriander leaves and take it to serving bowl

  6. The delicious Aloo Jeera with any rice varieties or Indian Flat bread and enjoy the dish!
